These mindfulness practice sessions are offered so we can begin our work days with fresh eyes and peaceful hearts. Mindfulness means respect, calm, thoughtfulness and action- something we all aspire to encourage. -Chime Shore
Moving Awareness: Taichi-Qigong
Thursday nights 7-8pm
You are invited to join in weekly body-awareness practices that include Chinese medicine principles, taichi-qigong-shibashi and mindfulness. Shibashi means 18 movements -so over 12 weeks we will cover the entire ‘set one’ as developed by Professor Lin Housheng for the purposes of health and wellbeing (as opposed to combat).
Series dates: (to be confirmed).
Radiant Mind: Mantras of Archetypal Bliss
Sunday Morning Puja
10-11:30am
then an invitation to join for a potluck lunch and afternoon service in the garden
These mantra and visualisation practice sessions are way to make contact with the radiance and wisdom within us all. This is the realm of imagination, creativity and symbolism–and of engaging with archetypes of health, wisdom and compassion. There are many such ‘deities’ within the Himalayan Buddhist pantheon, so generously shared with those with aspiration in this world. We will practice one archetype for 12 weeks (four per year). Some weeks we may not have a session due to other events.
- May-July: Chenrezig (Compassion)
- August – October: Vajrasattva (Clarity and purification)
- November-January: Green Tara (Mother nature oneness)

Is there a fee?
These classes are offered freely, in accordance with ancient practices of generosity. We might say ‘Dāna‘, koha or 布施. Please reflect quietly on what these offerings mean to you, and you’re invited to share financial or other support that is within your personal means and abilities. There will be a Dāna or koha bowl at each class, and bank transfers are accepted too.
Where are you located?
In person classes will be held at the non-profit retreat centre space we are currently co-building on my family’s farm on the eastern outskirts of Levin (Queen Street East). After registration is complete, the address and parking details will be sent to you by email.
Do I need to attend every week?
Consistency is a great asset to building a strong practice, a bit like going to the gym regularly. It takes about 9 or 10 weeks to change our habits- so you’re welcome to use these classes as a supportive structure in that regard. However there’s no expectation on how often or regularly you should or shouldn’t attend. Life is what it is, and you’re welcome to attend what you are able.
